These Trying Times

At the beginning of the pandemic and the first lockdown in the UK and with no art classes, demos, workshops etc, I bought a number of canvases with the intention of doing a paint a day.

Did I do it? No!

I walked and gardened and with no agenda apart from ongoing commissions, I sketched and experimented whenever I wanted.

Devon Open Studios went ahead despite social distancing restrictions and my new studio was christened. Paintings were sold and more commissions received although only half the amount of visitors came, understandably. Other exhibitions had to be cancelled or were opened and closed within days, or were shown online.

I sold some work through my newly-revamped website and now have this wonderful place online to showcase all my work and share news. Thankfully, through the last year, commissions from home and abroad  have kept me going . In fact I’ve had the best year ever!

It’s been a hard year for the art world but I have already registered for Devon Open Studios 2021 and am always finding new ways to keep myself creative.

Devon Open Studios 2021 takes place Saturday 11 to Sunday 26 September this year across the county.
